Fees charged by Better times Counselling are on a reducing scale. This is to encourage clients to continue their treatment, as attending simply only two or three sessions is just puting a bandage on the problem. Problems such as depression can be cured in most cases, but this requires commitment to treatment over a number of sessions. In addition, Better times sets out to teach the client techniques to deal with their problem and avoid the need for counselling in the future.
Services provided by those qualified at a post graduate clinical psychology level (similarly to Better times),are generally between $80 to $100 per hour.A number of counsellors at lesser ability levels similarly charge in this price range. In comparison the average fee charged by Better times over 14 sessions is $52.50. The number of sessions required for each client will depend on the problem, the clients progress, and their decision to continue with treatment. Sessions are two weeks and more apart. Our preferred treatment is the Cognitive Behavioural therapy which has been found to be as good-if not better than drugs in the treatment of depression.
